The drawing depicts a man who is watching a piece of white paper with a big ink spot on it through a long rolled paper with one eye, the other eye closed. The end of the rolled paper happens to be placed against the ink spot and the man says complacently：Her paper is black!"
It is revealed by the drawing that only focusing on a part often results in neglecting the whole thing. It is not uncommon for us to make such kind of mistakes without realizing it. One may break up with a friend for a trivial thing, forgetting the wonderful days they spent together；one may criticize a place as "a town of thieves and frauds" just because his/her wallet was stolen there, ignoring the friendly and honest common people there. Hence, taking a part-for the whole simply can lead to narrow-mindedness, biased ideas and poor judgment, which do much harm to our life and work.
From the above analysis we may come to the conclusion that it is essential for us to abandon partial attitude and ideas and try to see thinggs from a holistic view. Only in this way can we do better in life and work, will our society become more harmonious and will our country have a better future.
